A number of lawmakers on Tuesday asked the administrative board of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) and security agencies to identify and disclose enemy-affiliated individuals in parliament.
On Monday, Nilofar Ibrahimi, an MP, claimed that one member of the Wolesi Jirga and a member of the Meshrano Jirga (Upper House of the Parliament) are suspected of cooperating with insurgents.
"The names of a lawmaker and a senator have been taken and its said that they have brought suicide bombers. This issue must be clarified whether it is investigated by the National Directorate of Security or the administrative board (of the Wolesi Jirga)," said Lalai Hamidzai, an MP from Kandahar.
"There is no place for (personal) interests in this respect. This issue must be disclosed if it exists or if the intelligence institutions are aware about it," Khalilullah Shaheedzada, an MP.
"You should know that suicide bombers will be taken into parliament if you (MPs) don't pay serious attention to the national security issues," said Humaira Ayubi, MP.
"Mr. Speaker, another issue that I want to share is that everyone here, all of us, have doubt in each other; therefore, the names of the senator and the lawmaker must be disclosed," said Musa Jinab, another MP.
